DEFINITION OF ENAMELLED GLASS

(enamelled, thermally toughened soda-lime safety glass as per ÖNORM EN 12150)

Thermally toughened soda-lime safety glass with enamel being burned into the surface during the tempering process. After tempering, the enamel is an inseparable part of the glass.

Safety features:

ertex® COLOR@INTERIOR shows the typical and normatively mandated breaking behaviour of thermally toughened safety glass, but has a reduced mechanical strength. No heat-soak test is carried out after production. Whether a heat-soak test has been conducted or not must be specified on a case-by-case basis.

Assessment and inspection

Guideline to assess the visual quality of enamelled and screen printed glass (issued by the German Federal Flat Glass Association “Bundesverband Flachglas Großhandel, Veredelung e.V.” and the German Association of Structural Glazing “Fachverband Konstruktiver Glasbau e.V.”)

A typical characteristic is that the fluted roller pattern is visible if viewed close-up (painted side). This “fluting” is practically invisible under normal conditions and can only be perceived when looking through the non-enamelled surface. It should be taken into account for light colours that a medium (sealants, panel adhesives, insulation) directly applied to the rear (painted surface) may show through.
